“If I had to list out the best things that have ever happened to me they would rank like this.
1. My Wife.
2. My Kids.
3. LASIK procedure through Dr. Greenberg
This was one of the biggest and best decisions I’ve ever made. Dr. Greenberg and the team were great throughout the entire process and are always open to questions. It was quick, painless and I was back to work the next day. Not having to mess with contact lenses or glasses has been a major win and for that I am grateful.“
How LASIK Works
LASIK is the most commonly performed type of laser vision correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Our doctors perform advanced Customvue LASIK using Iris Registration. We begin by giving you a mild, oral sedative to relax you. Once your eye is numbed with anesthetic eye drops, your LASIK procedure is performed under a protective corneal flap. In less than 60 seconds, high-energy impulses from the excimer laser remove a calculated, microscopic amount of tissue from your internal cornea, gently reshaping it.
The LASIK procedure takes approximately 15 minutes to correct both eyes. You will have clear shields over your eyes for the first night following your procedure and you will be given a mild sleeping medication. Because of the extraordinary healing properties of your cornea, stitches are not needed after LASIK. The protective flap acts as a natural bandage, accelerating the healing process. You will return to see Dr. Greenberg the morning following your procedure for us to remove your eye shields and begin you on antibiotic drops for one week.
LASIK offers a quick healing time and rapid visual recovery. Most patients see well immediately and can return to normal activities the following day. The only restrictions include no swimming, contact sports, or eye makeup for 2 weeks.
iLASIK& Bladless LASIK
Dr. Greenberg performs iLASIK, using the Intralase method, a 100% blade-free, individually customized LASIK procedure. The IntraLase method makes CustomVue LASIK safer than ever before. The first step in the CustomVue LASIK procedure is creating a thin corneal flap. Traditionally, this flap was made using an instrument called microkeratome (blade).
IntraLase uses a femtosecond laser to create the corneal flap.
Dr. Greenberg does this by applying tiny, rapid pulses of laser light forming microscopic bubbles at a specific depth of your cornea. As the laser moves back and forth across your eye, a uniform layer of bubbles forms just below the corneal surface. The corneal flap is created by gently separating the tissue where the bubbles have formed. This creates a smooth, even surface where the flap is lifted allowing the excimer laser to remove a microscopic amount of tissue from the cornea, gently reshaping it.
Dr. Greenberg is able to customize the LASIK flap according to the shape of your eye, ensuring the best possible results. IntraLase takes about 15 seconds to create a flap. Once the treatment is completed, CustomVue LASIK takes about 15 minutes to do both eyes. The difference is IntraLase allows for fewer risks and greater precision than the microkeratome.
iLASIK is the only laser eye surgery approved by NASA and trusted by all branches of the US military. To schedule a free iLASIK consultation please call (248)649-2820.
