Am I a LASIK Candidate?

Q: How long has Greenberg Laser Eye Center been performing laser vision correction?

A: We have the first Michigan physician to perform LASIK. We have been performing laser vision correction since 1992. At our facility you will see the same doctor for your consultation, pre-op testing, LASIK procedure and your follow-up visits.

Q: What if I have astigmatism?

A: Astigmatism is accurately treated by LASIK along with your myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightedness) at NO additional cost.

Q: Does it cost more based on the severity of my prescription?

A: No. We do not charge more for LASIK based on your prescription.

Q: What type of laser do you use?

A: We use the VISX® Star S4 totally automatic tracking excimer laser with Iris Registration capability, the latest technology available. Based on case studies the VISX® Star S4 provides superior LASIK results.

Q: How long does the procedure take?

A: LASIK takes approximately 15 minutes to treat both eyes. You will be at the facility about 1½ hours.

Q: Is LASIK painful?

A: There is no pain during the procedure. You will be given an oral sedative to relax you and anesthetic eye drops to numb your eye.

Q: How long before I can return to normal activities?

A: One of the greatest benefits of LASIK is quick visual recovery. Most people return to normal activities the following day.

Q: Are there any restrictions with LASIK?

A: There are very few restrictions with LASIK. You cannot swim, play contact sports or wear eye makeup for 2 weeks.

Q: Does my insurance cover LASIK?

A: There are some insurances plans that do cover the LASIK procedure. For information on insurances that cover the procedure please contact our LASIK counselor.

Q: Do you offer financing?

A: We offer financing through CitiBank. They offer no interest financing, low fixed monthly payments, no down payment and no pre-payment penalty. Don’t forget you can use your flexible spending tax-free dollars for your LASIK procedure.
